Pet euthanasia and cremation pricing in Torrington, CT
Your credit card is required to reserve your appointment. However, no payment is required until the appointment and nothing is due until the appointment is completed
We charge cancellation fee of $100 if an appointment is cancelled less than 4 hours before the start time. If your pet passes away before your appointment you would not be charged a cancellation fee. If the vet you scheduled is able, and you would like their assistance with cremation, then pickup fee would apply instead of euthanasia fee
Other Consideration
If you have a larger pet, your vet may need the help of one friend or family member. Talk to your vet about options and limitations when they reach out to you prior to your appointment, and they will inform you of any extra cost for your situation.
Options for your pets return home and memorabilia depend on your local provider. Your vet coordinate the return of your pet’s ashes and let you know if there are additional fees for urn delivery.
Extra time or medications needed can affect the total price. Other factors can be if it is decided that it’s not time to euthanize your pet after the vet has arrive. In that case, only the travel fee, platform fee, and a quality of life consult would apply.
FAQs
The total cost includes the in-home pet euthanasia service fee, any travel fee (if any apply), and a platform fee. Additionally, depending on your choice, fees may apply for cremation services or keepsakes.
During your appointment, your vet will confirm your aftercare selection with you. If you choose to arrange cremation services, your vet will oversee your pet’s transportation to a local facility for cremation. If your preferred cremation option includes the return of your pet’s ashes to you, your vet will discuss the process to reunite you with your pet's ashes and the anticipated time frame during your appointment
Yes, upon arrival the veterinarian will assess your pet. This can look different than an “nose to tail” examination in a clinic setting and will focus more on the pet’s history and quality of life.
It is not uncommon to have doubts about whether the time is right. If you’ve taken the Quality of Life Questionnaire and are still unsure, we recommend consulting with your family veterinarian before scheduling an appointment.
Rest assured, if you book an appointment, your in-home euthanasia veterinarian will let you know if they do not believe that euthanasia is appropriate at this time.
You can expect your veterinarian to be in your home from 20-60 minutes, depending on how much of that time you need or want throughout the process.

This was my first time experiencing home euthanasia. Dr. Mitchell was absolutely amazing, she was very professional but also had an incredible amount of compassion. My husband and I came to the conclusion that our sweet Banji was no longer having any quality of life after the pain medication was no longer working. We were able to schedule an appointment with Dr. Mitchell the following business day. We were provided a consultation call a day prior to our appointment to discuss how the process would go during the appointment. Dr. Mitchell was very clear about the different stages our pet would go through. She informed us when Banji could still hear and feel us and then when her body was ready to let go. We were also provided an imprint of her paw print before Dr. Mitchell took Banji away to get cremated. My husband and I were also very surprised when Dr. Mitchell reach out to us a few days later for a follow up regarding how we were handling this loss. Dr. Mitchell is an incredibly caring and compassionate vet. It takes a very special person to do this job daily and she is definitely the best person for this. I would highly recommend using this service but Dr. Mitchell specifically if you want someone to treat your pet like they were theirs.
I do not often write reviews, but my experience with Dr. Jennifer Holman was so meaningful that I felt that I needed to share it. When my beloved dog was ready to go, I was devastated. It was the right decision, but it was one of the most extraordinarily painful things I have ever endured. Dr. Holman was so kind, compassionate. She talked me through every step of the process in a way that was incredibly thorough, yet not condescending or patronizing in any way. She cared for my dog so sweetly and so gently that he, without a doubt, spent his last bit of time here on Earth feeling loved and pampered. I could not have wished for a better end for my baby -- he left this world with a fully tummy, a big old grin on his face and surrounded by a lot of love. Euthanizing an animal is simple work -- any veterinarian can do it. But euthanizing a beloved pet while creating an environment of calm, peaceful serenity for the owners isn't something that just any veterinarian can do. Dr. Holman has the heart of a servant and she is blessed with the gift of bringing comfort and peace to her clients during one of the saddest days of their lives. It has been many months since I lost my baby. And as gut-wrenchingly painful as his death was and I although I miss him terribly, when I think of that day I actually smile. Dr. Holman created an environment that ensured that *I* was calm, serene and at peace, which allowed my boy to be calm, serene and at peace. Dr. Holman truly has a gift and is a blessing to those she serves, but the real service that she provides isn't for pets -- it is for the humans who love them. I will be forever grateful for Dr. Holman's care for ME at that time, which ensured that my dog's final moments were spent carefree, relaxed and happy.
Dr. Amanda Harper made this transition for us such a pleasant experience under the circumstance. We were losing our baby girl after 17 years. Not knowing what to expect, Dr. Harper came in with just a gentle way about her, and explained everything in detail. She made sure we were all comfortable; covered her with blankets to keep her warm, and loved on her. Dr. Harper treated our baby as if she was treating her own. Dr. Harper is truly a class act, and a Godsend for those having to go through such a difficult time.
I choose to contact At Home Euthanasia on Cape Cod after reading the professional bio of Dr.Michele Sims. And, it may sound unbelievable, but within the first five minutes of Dr. Sims arrival at my home; I knew I had made the right decision. Dr. Sims did not immediately speak “medical technicalities”. She was concerned with my well-being; allowing me to rattle on about my sweet kitty. She gave hugs freely and assured me that as difficult as it was, I was making the right decision. Once we were ready to begin the euthanasia process, we slowly and quietly made my kitty as comfortable as possible. Knowing my cat as well as I do; I could see that she was not afraid or stressed out by the presence of Dr. Sims. The entire process took about 15-20 minutes, with no signs of stress at any time. Afterwards, I realized that when all was said and done, Dr. Sims had given me a real gift; i.e.; peace of mind. I can’t thank Dr. Sims enough and I recommend her services 100%.
Saying goodbye to our best girl after 15 years was so sad. Dr. Kristina Pugh told our family exactly what to expect while she was there. She gave us tips for helping our other pets say goodbye and to manage their behavior for the next few weeks. She was so kind and made this process the best it could be for our family. We felt that she cared for Rosie and handled us and our grief gently and with compassion.
Dr. Silvesti was sincerely compassionate and caring during this difficult time. She treated my dear girl Serena with dignity and the utmost respect. While I am devastated and grieving heavily, there is some comfort in knowing Serena's passing happened in the most peaceful way possible.
