FAQs
The total cost includes the in-home pet euthanasia service fee, any travel fee (if any apply), and a platform fee. Additionally, depending on your choice, fees may apply for cremation services or keepsakes.
During your appointment, your vet will confirm your aftercare selection with you. If you choose to arrange cremation services, your vet will oversee your pet’s transportation to a local facility for cremation. If your preferred cremation option includes the return of your pet’s ashes to you, your vet will discuss the process to reunite you with your pet's ashes and the anticipated time frame during your appointment
Yes, upon arrival the veterinarian will assess your pet. This can look different than an “nose to tail” examination in a clinic setting and will focus more on the pet’s history and quality of life.
It is not uncommon to have doubts about whether the time is right. If you’ve taken the Quality of Life Questionnaire and are still unsure, we recommend consulting with your family veterinarian before scheduling an appointment.
Rest assured, if you book an appointment, your in-home euthanasia veterinarian will let you know if they do not believe that euthanasia is appropriate at this time.
You can expect your veterinarian to be in your home from 20-60 minutes, depending on how much of that time you need or want throughout the process.

My in-home pet euthanasia experience was truly beautiful. It was stressful getting my dog in and out of the car after finding out at the vet she had an aggressive brain tumor, and I just wanted her to go surrounded by people who loved her. I was able to get an appointment within hours, and in that timeframe, friends and family came by to say goodbye to my dear Diamond. I chose to have her ashes returned, which I’m happy I made that decision, too. At home euthanasia is really the best way, in my opinion, and it’s peaceful, for your pet and for everyone that loved your pet.
Dr Goldberg was so kind and careful, explaining each step beforehand, and giving us the time we needed, while attending to the comfort of our pet. It was such a gentle and calm process.
Amanda was very helpful and accommodating to what helped us and our dog feel most comfortable. I would recommend to any family in need of help moving the animal or just processing the emotions.
If you can give this final gift to your pet, absolutely use this service. Dr. Michelli services our area and I cannot say enough positive things about her. She has a gift for providing a service for us on some of our absolute worst days, and she did an amazing job.
We decided to have our dog Kira laid to rest because she was 15 years old, going blind, suffering from hip and joint pain, losing teeth, and overall just not doing well. Codapet was the choice I made, and I'm glad I did. Dr. Bagnoni was respectful, informative, and communicative. She came to the house (which I wasn't aware could be done) and she helped us put our beloved dog to rest for the final time. It pained us to do so, but it needed to be done. We're so thankful for everything she did to make it easy on us and Kira. Thank you Dr. Kim for checking on us after the fact as well. <3 from all of us here.
We were extraordinarily blessed to have Dr. Lara Allison assigned to us. Our cat declined suddenly and we needed services on Easter Sunday. I explained our situation to Dr. Allison and she moved our appointment up and arrived as quickly as possible. Throughout the process she explained what was happened and what to expect, she immediately put us at ease, she was exceptionally kind and gentle to our cat, she gave us options and asked what we needed, she gave us plenty of space to grieve while she waited, and she asked us about our cat in a manner that helped us reflect on the good times. I’ve never done in-home euthanasia before and this was exactly what we needed. I cannot thank Dr. Allison and CodaPet enough for this service.
