My wife had Daisy for several years before we met. She had already been through so many adventures before we became a family, and I was fortunate enough to share another 10 wonderful years of adventures with her. When Daisy suddenly became immobile, we noticed within just a couple of days that she was declining quickly. We knew it was time, and more than anything, we didn’t want her to suffer. We reached out to Dr. Tolbert and requested an after-hours emergency visit. She was able to come the very next day. When Dr. Tolbert arrived, she took the time to thoroughly examine Daisy and patiently explain the entire process to us. She believed Daisy had most likely suffered a stroke. From start to finish, Dr. Tolbert was compassionate, patient, and incredibly kind. She gave us as much time as we needed to be with Daisy and say our goodbyes. My wife and our adult sons were heartbroken and completely unprepared for the sadness of losing her, but we knew we were making the best decision for Daisy. Daisy had lived a long life filled with love, family, and countless adventures. Saying goodbye was one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do, but Dr. Tolbert helped make an incredibly difficult moment as peaceful and compassionate as possible. As Boomer entered his later years, Megan and I began to consider the inevitable yet difficult question of how the end might come, what the specific circumstances might be, how we would handle the actual moment of losing him. She put us at ease, helped us understand and be confident in our difficult choice, and treated Boomer like an old friend. Dr. Tolbert made saying goodbye to our kitty a surprisingly positive experience, considering how painful it was. She was kind to us and our surviving kitty, who was bonded to the one we had to say goodbye to. She gave us advice on how to help him with his grief, and allowed him to be there so he would understand what was happening. We had our baby's ashes back in less than a week, as well as fur clippings, nose & paw prints, and a clay print. Our urn is beautiful. She shared knowledge about our kitty's cancer and assured us this was the right choice and that he looked great for his age. Dr. Tolbert was so kind and compassionate with our dog, Cooper. We contacted her after hours because we knew Cooper was struggling so badly and would not make it through the night. Watching him go through that pain was too hard. She arrived at our house within a short time and we were able to send him off in a peaceful way in the comfort of his home. Initially I did not know how it would be putting our dog down in our home, but after this experience I realize it was what we owed to Cooper. He gave us unconditional love for so many years, so being able to say our goodbye to him in a peaceful setting was the right thing to do.
