Pet euthanasia and cremation pricing in San Jose, CA
Your credit card is required to reserve your appointment. However, no payment is required until the appointment and nothing is due until the appointment is completed
We charge cancellation fee of $100 if an appointment is cancelled less than 4 hours before the start time. If your pet passes away before your appointment you would not be charged a cancellation fee. If the vet you scheduled is able, and you would like their assistance with cremation, then pickup fee would apply instead of euthanasia fee
Other Consideration
If you have a larger pet, your vet may need the help of one friend or family member. Talk to your vet about options and limitations when they reach out to you prior to your appointment, and they will inform you of any extra cost for your situation.
Options for your pets return home and memorabilia depend on your local provider. Your vet coordinate the return of your pet’s ashes and let you know if there are additional fees for urn delivery.
Extra time or medications needed can affect the total price. Other factors can be if it is decided that it’s not time to euthanize your pet after the vet has arrive. In that case, only the travel fee, platform fee, and a quality of life consult would apply.
FAQs
The total cost includes the in-home pet euthanasia service fee, any travel fee (if any apply), and a platform fee. Additionally, depending on your choice, fees may apply for cremation services or keepsakes.
During your appointment, your vet will confirm your aftercare selection with you. If you choose to arrange cremation services, your vet will oversee your pet’s transportation to a local facility for cremation. If your preferred cremation option includes the return of your pet’s ashes to you, your vet will discuss the process to reunite you with your pet's ashes and the anticipated time frame during your appointment
Yes, upon arrival the veterinarian will assess your pet. This can look different than an “nose to tail” examination in a clinic setting and will focus more on the pet’s history and quality of life.
It is not uncommon to have doubts about whether the time is right. If you’ve taken the Quality of Life Questionnaire and are still unsure, we recommend consulting with your family veterinarian before scheduling an appointment.
Rest assured, if you book an appointment, your in-home euthanasia veterinarian will let you know if they do not believe that euthanasia is appropriate at this time.
You can expect your veterinarian to be in your home from 20-60 minutes, depending on how much of that time you need or want throughout the process.

Dr. Duncan was very warm, caring, and immensely helpful during a very difficult time. Nigel was a wonderful cat - more dog than cat. He still greeted us at the door, demanded pets, and sat in our laps whenever we sat still long enough. But he had a huge tumor under his tongue, he had lost so much weight, and eating was so painful he could only attempt with a dose of pain medicine. He couldn’t groom himself anymore and his fur was covered in mats. And yet he still sought out love and affection, so we were so torn about what to do. Dr. Duncan helped us process all those emotions and facts and was completely caring and supportive. She allowed us to give Nigel the gift of dying without prolonged suffering, and without an anxiety ridden last day of a thirty minute car ride to the vet in a cat carrier in a sterile vets office smelling of fear and pain. He died peacefully in his own home without fear. I’m so grateful.
I've had many many pets in my lifetime. This is the first time I experienced saying goodbye in the comfort of my home. I would never choose to do it any other way again. Dr. Hsia is compassionate, kind and highly professional. My little girl Lottie lived a long life at 17+ yrs of age. I absolutely love my personal Vet, but I didn't want Lottie's last hours to be a car drive across town and waiting in a busy office to be seen. I am grateful for CodaPet and Dr. Hsia.

Dr Crawford made one of the worst decisions we’ve had to make peaceful. He was extremely attentive and kind through the entire process. We are heartbroken but are thankful for his care.
Dr. Gary Hsia showed empathy and compassion when we had to make the heartbreaking decision of putting our 13-year old pug out of his pain/suffering from cancer. Dr. Hsia handled Rocky with much care and attention to his every detail and need. The experience of being able to provide love and comfort for Rocky in his own home by utilizing this method made this already difficult experience of his passing, just a little bearable. The card and the delivery of Rocky's remains made it personal. - Thank you Dr. Hsia (and Bethany) - Jodi W.

Dr. Gary was so kind, patient and considerate in discussing our sweet Zoey's (15 years) medical situation, answering questions and helping me to arrive at the most devastating but kindest decision for her. I am so very grateful that she was able to pass peaceably at home with me at her side. Dr. Gary also made time to hand-deliver Zoey's cremains to our family, giving us some comfort and closure. Thank you so much, Dr. Gary.

Our experience with Dr Karen Duncan and Codapet- At home pet euthanasia made an extremely difficult and sad time, one that we found peaceful and reverent for our dear Gracie and for my husband and myself. Dr Karen was very gentle and caring. She explained everything as the process moved along. We truly believe this was the kindness gift we could give to our long time loyal and faithful friend, a very peaceful passing. Thank you Dr Karen.
