Dr. Alcyen Silva

Dr. Alcyen Silva

Ramona, CA

Dr. Silva grew up in the mountains of Lake Tahoe, where she developed a deep love for the outdoors and animals of all kinds. She earned her undergraduate degree from Chico State University in 2011, spending those years as a ranch hand on a large cattle operation in Northern California, where she learned the value of practical, hands-on animal care. In 2012, she moved to the island of St. Kitts to attend Ross University, earning her DVM in 2016. She launched her career with East County Large Animal Practice in San Diego before transitioning to small animal medicine in 2019, bringing over 10 years of experience spanning equine, general practice, urgent care, and small animal emergency. Dr. Silva's decade of clinical work gave her a front-row seat to the realities of pet loss, and through those experiences she developed a deeply individualized approach to end-of-life care. She focuses on supporting each family's emotional, spiritual, and social needs, easing the anxiety around loss and creating space for a peaceful transition. Her guiding philosophy is to neither hasten nor postpone death, while honoring and strengthening the bond between pets and their people. She believes the decision to provide a peaceful passing is one of the most compassionate choices a pet parent can make, and she considers it an honor to be entrusted with that moment. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Silva lives in Ramona with her husband and two young children. She's an avid horseback rider, artist working in graphite and acrylic, and fitness enthusiast who loves gardening, fishing, desert trips, boating on the Colorado River, and watching her kids grow up. Her household includes two border collies, Dexter (13) and Duner (7), and a rescued stray kitty named Opah (2).
