FAQs

The total cost includes the in-home pet euthanasia service fee, any travel fee (if any apply), and a platform fee. Additionally, depending on your choice, fees may apply for cremation services or keepsakes.

During your appointment, your vet will confirm your aftercare selection with you. If you choose to arrange cremation services, your vet will oversee your pet’s transportation to a local facility for cremation. If your preferred cremation option includes the return of your pet’s ashes to you, your vet will discuss the process to reunite you with your pet's ashes and the anticipated time frame during your appointment

Yes, upon arrival the veterinarian will assess your pet. This can look different than an “nose to tail” examination in a clinic setting and will focus more on the pet’s history and quality of life.

It is not uncommon to have doubts about whether the time is right. If you’ve taken the Quality of Life Questionnaire and are still unsure, we recommend consulting with your family veterinarian before scheduling an appointment.

Rest assured, if you book an appointment, your in-home euthanasia veterinarian will let you know if they do not believe that euthanasia is appropriate at this time.

You can expect your veterinarian to be in your home from 20-60 minutes, depending on how much of that time you need or want throughout the process.

We recently had Dr. Kelsey Jones come to our home to help us say goodbye to our Stevie girl, and she was truly incredible through one of the hardest days we’ve had as a family. From the moment she arrived, she went above and beyond to make sure Stevie was as comfortable and calm as possible, especially knowing she could be quite anxious. She took her time, answered all of our questions, never once made us feel rushed, and walked us through everything with so much compassion and reassurance. It’s such an emotional and difficult experience, but Dr. Jones helped us send Stevie off in the most peaceful and loving way possible. We will always be grateful for the kindness and care she showed not only to Stevie, but to us as well.

Dr. Lauren came to our home when we sent out an urgent request when everything was booked up. This was our first at home euthanasia experience, and my husband's first true loss of a beloved pet. Lauren was calm, comforting, and kind. She explained everything clearly and gently. She was sensitive to where my husband and I each were emotionally, and most importantly, she was very gentle with our sweet boy, a 12 year old Siberian cat named Buddy, declining dramatically from kidney disease. He went quickly and peacefully. It was a huge comfort and relief. He had been suffering. Lauren made sure we were okay before she left, and even followed up later in the day, especially confirming whether or not we wanted some of his fur included with our private cremation (we had said no, but decided we did - so glad she asked again). We would recommend CodaPets, and especially Dr. Lauren, to anyone who wanted an at-home experience. I would seek her out specifically again.

We had to euthanize our beloved cat Phoebe just a month after moving to a new town and I'm so grateful to have found CodaPet and Dr. Mary Juber. The entire process was gentle and respectful and Dr. Mary took great care to ensure Phoebe's comfort. As a cat rescue family, we have cared for many sick and elderly cats and an in-home euthanasia is always the last gift we give them if at all possible. Thank you to CodaPet and to Dr. Mary for making this possible for Phoebe.

Dr. Bean with CodaPet made our girl's transition so calm and peaceful. We couldn't have asked for a better and more comforting experience from him and Brooke. We are so incredibly thankful for them for providing this service so that we could be comfortable, but most importantly so our best girl could be at peace and anxiety free in her last moments with us.
