Position Description

As an in-home pet euthanasia veterinarian, you will be responsible for providing compassionate and empathetic care for pets in the final moments of their life. This role requires a confident and skilled command of veterinary medicine, strong communication skills, and the ability to support pet owners through this difficult time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-home consultations to assess the pet’s condition and discuss euthanasia options with the pet owner.
  • Provide in-home euthanasia in a gentle and compassionate manner, ensuring the pet’s comfort and dignity.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to pet owners before, during, and after the euthanasia process.
  • Maintain accurate records of each case and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and ethical standards.
  • Build relationships with local veterinary clinics, serving as an extension of their excellent care.

Position Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • State licensure as a veterinarian with a clear disciplinary record.
  • Experience in end-of-life care or palliative medicine is preferable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to demonstrate empathy and compassion.
  • Ability to work independently and make difficult decisions with professionalism and sensitivity.

Position Requirements

  • Be a licensed veterinarian
  • Capable of walking, kneeling, bending, crouching, crawling, stooping, standing, and reaching consistently during the workday
  • Comfortable with prolonged periods of driving
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 100 lbs. assisted
  • Compassion for animals and their humans
