Verified Veterinarian
Being a veterinarian is something I’ve always wanted to do and there’s never really been a plan B for me that did not involve veterinary medicine. I started working at a vet clinic when I was 14 and that experience really solidified my decision to pursue a career as a vet. I loved the fact that the vet I worked for gave a voice to those that could not speak for them selves. I loved talking to the people and learning about their relationship with their pet. Moreso, I loved seeing what a difference you can make in someone’s life by healing and/or saving their pet, which they consider a family member. That experience along with various others since then helped me be secure in my decision to become a DVM. As far as reason behind wanting to provide in-home euthanasias, I think the human-animal bond is a very unique and precious bond - we view our pets as our family and we want them to be happy always, especially in those last moments. I think being able to provide this service which allows pets to be in the comfort of their home and allowing any and all family members to be there or at least say goodbye at their own pace, is an extremely rewarding service to be able to provide.

I’m going to tell you the truth up front: any euthanasia is an excruciating decision. It’s one that pet parents never want to have to make. However, sometimes it becomes the only humane, reasonable option when our beloved pets are in pain or have no quality of life remaining. Additionally, at-home euthanasia gives you and your pet a sense of calm that neither of you will be able to find in any office anywhere. In their final moments, your beloved pets aren’t scared about an unfamiliar office, or unfamiliar smells or faces, but are comforted and surrounded by things and people they know and love. I’ve known Dr. Batey for years and can tell you, without any doubt, that there is no other person on Earth that I’d allow to care for my dogs and to help them in their transition beyond the sunset. Dr. Batey explained the process to us clearly, she was patient with us and she was completely accepting of any suggestions we had to make our beloved Govy’s transition easier not only for him, but for us as well. We will never be able to truly repay her expertise and kindness, but hope that when you have to make this heartbreaking decision, you let Dr. Batey help you and your loved one the way she helped us.
Dr. Batey was wonderful. She told us what to expect and asked whether we had questions. Her personal touch was exactly what we needed during this difficult experience.
Could not have asked for a better service under the circumstances. Dr. Batey really showed compassion and patience for myself and my doggo!
