Why I provide at-home pet euthanasia

I've found helping people say goodbye to their cherished pets to be one of the most gratifying and fulfilling aspects of the practice of veterinary medicine. It truly is an honor and privilege to be a part of end-of-life care for my patients.

This was the second time we used Dr. Martin's services. Our dog Bryn was experiencing significant neuro issues. We decided that evening we needed to put an end to any further suffering. We contacted Dr. Martin early the next morning and he was able to come over soon after. He is wonderful at helping you through this extremely difficult process with compassion and care for both you and your pet. He understands the difficulty in this being the last moments with your pet and gives you the time to grieve the loss. I highly recommend Dr. Martin.

Dr. Martin was very personable and chatted with me and my adult sons when he arrived to establish rapport. His explanation of each step of the procedure was thorough and professional. He was very kind with our pet and respectful of our wishes for the final moments. This was my first experience with in-home euthanasia and I highly recommend it, if possible. Dr. Martin took much of the anguish out of the process. It was sad, but dignified.

Dr. Lane Martin is exceptionally caring, sensitive, knowledgeable, professional and compassionate. Words can't truly express how special he is.  I was having trouble accepting the fact that it was time to put my soul mate dog down. Paris was over 12 years old and her sight and hearing was failing. She was incontinent, and had trouble walking, She would keep falling down due to her weight loss and therefore muscle loss. She used to love long walks now she could only take a few steps before her legs gave out and she fell. She would go up to wall and just stare at it for several minutes. She would go in a tight spot and stay there until I got her out. She was suffering both physically and mentally. As soon as Dr, Martin came in, he gently and caringly greeted Paris. He instantly noticed that she had lost a lot of weight He asked what was happening with her. He patiently listened as I explained everything that was going on. He helped me accept that the kindest thing was to give her peace and the freedom from pain. Thank you, Dr. Martin, for helping me get to the place where I know I truly put Paris first. She was able to pass with me giving her love and her favorite treats.

I was impressed with the thorough examination Dr Lane Martin did on my beloved kitty. I wondered if I was doing the right thing letting her go. The vet explained everything so I had a complete understanding and it gave me comfort to know it really was the right time to say goodbye. He was very patient and kind through the whole process. He brought her ashes back with a thoughtful card. I felt he cared. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Lane Martin was a pleasure to work with. He was very kind, caring, and respectful during a very difficult time for us losing our beloved cat. The process was very calm and peaceful just the way we had hoped it would be. He was a blessing in our time of need.
