Dr. Kyra Heirich understands that saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest—and most meaningful—moments you'll face. As someone who has counseled hundreds of pet parents through end-of-life decisions, she brings deep empathy, steady guidance, and a calming presence to your home. With a veterinary degree from Michigan State University and a background that includes emergency medicine, general practice, and shelter surgery, Dr. Kyra is experienced in providing gentle, compassionate care during life’s most tender transitions. Raised in the Bay Area and a proud graduate of UC Davis, Dr. Kyra has always been surrounded by animals and the people who love them. After practicing across Michigan and Colorado, she returned home to California and is now grateful to serve families in the South Lake Tahoe area. Her passion lies in supporting the human-animal bond, especially in those final moments that deserve grace, dignity, and care. When she’s not helping pets and their people, Dr. Kyra can be found skiing or rock climbing in the mountains she now calls home. She shares her life with two beloved dogs—Delilah, a snow-loving shepherd mix, and Ruthie Barker Ginsberg, a spirited chihuahua rescued during an ER shift.
