The total cost includes the in-home pet euthanasia service fee, any travel fee (if any apply), and a platform fee. Additionally, depending on your choice, fees may apply for cremation services or keepsakes.

During your appointment, your vet will confirm your aftercare selection with you. If you choose to arrange cremation services, your vet will oversee your pet’s transportation to a local facility for cremation. If your preferred cremation option includes the return of your pet’s ashes to you, your vet will discuss the process to reunite you with your pet's ashes and the anticipated time frame during your appointment

Yes, upon arrival the veterinarian will assess your pet. This can look different than an “nose to tail” examination in a clinic setting and will focus more on the pet’s history and quality of life.

It is not uncommon to have doubts about whether the time is right. If you’ve taken the Quality of Life Questionnaire and are still unsure, we recommend consulting with your family veterinarian before scheduling an appointment.

Rest assured, if you book an appointment, your in-home euthanasia veterinarian will let you know if they do not believe that euthanasia is appropriate at this time.

You can expect your veterinarian to be in your home from 20-60 minutes, depending on how much of that time you need or want throughout the process.

At-home pet euthanasia with CodaPet’s network of veterinarians provides loving, end-of-life care when you need it most. Once you schedule a visit online, you will receive a confirmation, and your vet will make sure everything is arranged with care and clarity.

When your vet arrives, they’ll begin with a gentle assessment to reassure you of your decision and answer any questions you may have. Your vet will always move at your pace, giving you the time and space you need to say goodbye in your own way.

When you are ready, your vet will gently administer a sedative so your pet can relax and drift into a deep, peaceful sleep. After the sedation has fully taken effect, a final, humane medication is given, allowing for a calm and painless passing surrounded by love.

If you choose aftercare, your vet will respectfully care for your pet and transport them for cremation, handling every step with dignity and compassion.

The key difference is the setting. In-home euthanasia allows your pet to pass peacefully in the comfort of their familiar surroundings, reducing stress and anxiety. This option especially benefits pets who may feel scared or uncomfortable traveling to a clinic. It also offers your family a private, intimate experience during this emotional time. While some urgent situations don’t allow for time to schedule in-home euthanasia, many pet owners in Sandpoint choose in-home services for the peaceful atmosphere and compassionate care their pets receive right where they feel safest. You can find flexible availability for our local vets here, or look for same-day euthanasia appointments.

No, in home euthanasia is designed to be completely painless. After an initial end-of-life assessment, your veterinarian will first administer a sedative to ensure your pet is relaxed and comfortable. The euthanasia medication then gently stops the heart without causing pain. The process is peaceful and allows your pet to pass without distress.

Yes, there is typically an additional fee for after-hours or emergency appointments. You can view the estimate when you request a same-day or urgent appointment.

Most providers in Sandpoint charge a flat fee for euthanasia, although some providers do charge based on the size of your pet, so small dogs and cats can be the same price; however, medium or large-sized dogs (such as Bulldogs, Australian Shepherds, Labradors, or German Shepherds) will likely carry a higher price. At CodaPet, most vets charge a flat fee for both dogs and cats; however, if there is a large pet fee, it will be applied automatically for you to review in the price estimate when you reserve an appointment. We recently had to put down our 16 year old golden retriever. She hated going to the vet so being able to pass at home made the process less stressful for her and our family. Dr Hyman was very compassionate, caring, and professional throughout the whole process. We would absolutely recommend CodaPet to anyone who finds themselves looking to euthanize their beloved pet in the comfort of their home.

My cat Reese who I had for 13 years was beginning to struggle and it was time to let go. I decided on in-home euthanasia to alleviate some of the stress of going to a vet. Dr Mary was wonderful. Her caring showed thru in many ways. She was very gentle and kind in helping Reese cross over.

Making the decision to help our dog peacefully pass was one of the hardest choices I have ever made. While it was not what I wanted, it was what I had to do for our beloved Dex. He was part of our family and very loved by many. Unfortunately he was headed downhill fast and the thought of letting him continue to suffer was unbearable. Dr. Nicolette Michelli is who assisted us and I can’t say enough about how compassionate she was. From the moment she met Dex she treated him like he was part of her family while helping me and my family through the grieving process. I hope you are never in this situation and forced to make the decision we had to but if you do I highly recommend Dr. Nicolette Michelli.

Our sweet Wilson declined quickly on a Saturday of a 3 day weekend. We were blessed to find Dr. Wratten and CodaPet. She was able to come to our home on Sunday without additional weekend or holiday fees added in. Would definitely recommend to others.

There truly are not enough words to express how kind, compassionate, thoughtful, and comforting Dr. Karen Duncan was during one of the hardest moments our family has ever faced. From the moment she arrived, she made us feel completely safe, at ease, and supported through the entire process. Every single detail — even the smallest touches you wouldn’t think of — was handled with such gentleness, dignity, and care. She treated our Finley-man with so much respect and love, and she treated us with the same compassion. Being able to say goodbye at home, where our pet was most comfortable and peaceful, made an unimaginable situation feel as comforting as it possibly could be. If you are considering in-home euthanasia for your own beloved pet, I truly cannot recommend Dr. Duncan enough. While this is a heartbreaking experience no one ever wants to go through, she made it the absolute best experience that this situation could possibly be. And honestly — while I sincerely hope I never need her services at my house again (for obvious reasons!), if and when that time ever comes, there is no question that it will absolutely be her. We will never forget her kindness.

We truly cannot thank Dr. Hundley enough for the love of animals and caring shown during recent the in home euthanasia of our cat, Callie. The compassion she exhibited not just for our precious Callie, but for our entire family as we were able to be present in Callie’s passing in her loving home environment with all those who loved her so much surrounding her is something we will never forget - and can never express our deep appreciation for enough. Dr. Hundley truly helped to allow one of the most difficult decisions we had to make also one of the most loving decisions we could have made for not just Callie, but for our family. We rescued Callie over 11 years ago, at the age of 5 years - although we always say she was the one who rescued us, and truly felt that each and every day we were blessed with our precious Callie. Dr. Hundley listened as we all shared the most profound and poignant memories we had of our not only loved, but also revered, our most precious Callie as she was lovingly allowed to be at peace as her passing came to fruition. Those of us that were so blessed as we welcomed Callie into our home over 11 years ago were also able to be there when she passed - and are truly so grateful for the loving compassion that Dr. Hundley allowed each of us to feel during such a difficult time. We will not hesitate whatsoever to utilize the beautiful service she provides when needed again. Thank you so much, Dr. Hindley. We are so very grateful for you.
