Also serves: Livermore, Dublin, +2 more
Dr. Elmar Zamora brings over 15 years of veterinary experience to the families she serves. Originally from Davao City in the Philippines, she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of the Philippines Los Baños in 1999, finishing in the top 1% of her graduating class, and later completed a master's degree in Veterinary Biomedical Sciences at Oklahoma State University as a Fulbright scholar. Before settling in California, she taught anatomy, physiology, and other sciences as an assistant professor, and after arriving in the US she served as adjunct faculty in the Veterinary Technician Program at Santa Rosa Junior College. She earned her ECFVG certification and passed the California Veterinary State Board Examination in 2010, going on to take over her father-in-law's practice after a decade of work there. Dr. Zamora's approach to end-of-life care is shaped by her own experience as a primary caregiver for her father during hospice. Walking through the emotional weight of anticipating a loved one's passing gave her a deep appreciation for the professionals who cared not only for her father but for her whole family. She believes that end-of-life care is poviding support for both the patient and the people who love them. When she helps families through a pet's final moments, she carries that understanding with her, knowing that compassion, presence, and clear communication can profoundly shape how families remember one of the hardest days of their lives. Outside of her practice, Dr. Zamora is deeply musical, playing guitar and sometimes singing in a band alongside her husband Rex, whom she met in vet school, and their two sons, who play everything from bass and trumpet to keys and drums. Her life is full of animals, including three cats, Biscuit, Baiser, and Patootee, all foster fails she fell in love with while helping her local shelter with spay and neuter work, plus two family dogs, Mooshu and Misha.
