FAQs

The total cost includes the in-home pet euthanasia service fee, any travel fee (if any apply), and a platform fee. Additionally, depending on your choice, fees may apply for cremation services or keepsakes.

During your appointment, your vet will confirm your aftercare selection with you. If you choose to arrange cremation services, your vet will oversee your pet’s transportation to a local facility for cremation. If your preferred cremation option includes the return of your pet’s ashes to you, your vet will discuss the process to reunite you with your pet's ashes and the anticipated time frame during your appointment

Yes, upon arrival the veterinarian will assess your pet. This can look different than an “nose to tail” examination in a clinic setting and will focus more on the pet’s history and quality of life.

It is not uncommon to have doubts about whether the time is right. If you’ve taken the Quality of Life Questionnaire and are still unsure, we recommend consulting with your family veterinarian before scheduling an appointment.

Rest assured, if you book an appointment, your in-home euthanasia veterinarian will let you know if they do not believe that euthanasia is appropriate at this time.

You can expect your veterinarian to be in your home from 20-60 minutes, depending on how much of that time you need or want throughout the process.

Dr. Thomas was so pleasant and helpful in the care provided for our sweet penny. Such a comfort for our cat to pass away at home painlessly without the added stress traveling to the veterinarian’s office.

Dr. Stukey and CodaPet made one of the hardest decisions we as pet owners have to make. She handled my Bentley with the same amount of care and compassion as if she had raised him herself. She communicated everything step by step, never once rushed the process and only processed when I felt comfortable. Thank you for everything you did for us, Dr. Stukey. ❤️

Saying goodbye to our beloved dog far too early was the hardest day of my life but Dr. Caitlin Klepper helped make a hard day incredibly special. The at-home service was exactly the environment our hearts needed to grieve and say goodbye to Phoebe. We had soft music playing, Phoebe was surrounded by all the people she loved dearly, and Dr. Klepper was so sincere, respectful, informational, and comforting. She walked us through each step and did it in our own time. I still replay the day in my head over and over again and as hard as it is, it was a day that was filled with so much peace as well. I highly recommend CodaPet if you’re able. The bedside manner that was displayed is one you pray humans get as well.

A kind, gentle, loving and genuinely professional person, Dr. Somerset was exactly who we needed to help our 20 1/2 year old cat, Emma, in her transition. I met Dr. Somerset as a vet at the office and now as a person who helps animals and their pet parents at the end of life. She was understanding and real. The energy that she exuded the entire time was love and compassion, She made an extremely difficult and stressful decision easier for both me and my husband. Enough said. Our Emma is over the rainbow now.✨🌈✨ Safe and sound. Thank you, Dr Somerset. . . from the depth of our hearts. ✨💖✨ (This is our second experience with CodaPet. Both experiences have been exceptional in Professionalism, Loving Kindness and Compassion. In both situations, we were able to get an appointment the very same day that we called.)

Dr. Shanina Halbert is a compassionate and professional veterinarian who came to our home to help us when the difficult time came to put our 17-year-old cat, Manuelita, to rest. She was kind, communicative and gentle, and went above and beyond to make sure our cat felt safe on her final journey and went peacefully at home in our arms. Her calm bedside manner, clear communication, and genuine kindness made a painful experience much more manageable. She arrived promptly after short, off-hours notice, and treated our home and pet with great respect, care, and dignity. I am deeply grateful to and highly recommend CodaPet and Dr. Halbert to anyone seeking a caring, dignified at-home euthanasia service for a beloved pet.

Me and my family had to make the difficult decision to euthanize our family cat Charlie who had been with us for over 18 years after his health suddenly declined into his old age, and Dr. Kristin Kemper was such a blessing to have to help us go through the entire process. We chose in home pet euthanasia, and she was so beyond kind, patient and understanding towards us during what was easily one of the worst days of mine and my family’s life. Not only that, but the process was extremely peaceful for our Charlie and he experienced no pain or discomfort the entire time. It was done in the backyard, one of his favorite places, and Dr. Kemper showed our boy tremendous respect from beginning to end. Despite it still being one of the most difficult decisions we’ve ever had to make, I’m so grateful we were able to do it peacefully for him in a place that was familiar to him, and without pain or fear. Dr. Kemper ensured that Charlie was well taken care of, and he went easily, surrounded by the people who love him most, and in his favorite place in the world, and she is to thank for that.
