This is a necessary part of being a loving pet owner. Our sweet Bucky, a yellow lab, was a gentle soul with a huge heart and had eyes that gave away everything he was thinking. He got sick and within three weeks had lost most of his muscle mass and his appetite. We knew it was time after one long walk around the yard once more. We did not want to lose him somewhere else than home, where we could say goodbye to each other in a safe place where Bucky and was relaxed and comfortable. Dr Murray was very kind. He explained with compassion what this would look like and followed our lead with timing and letting the whole family say goodbye for as long as we needed to. I think he would have stayed all day if we needed it. This took me a bit to write because we miss Buckwheat terribly. But being responsible pet owners means making very tough decisions but Dr Murray really made a difference in such a sad day. I would absolutely recommend Dr Murray to anyone facing this tough time. We’ve had two beloved long time dog companions put to rest in the last eight months, both procedures through in-home pet euthanasia administered by Dr. Ramos. Grief for our loss leading up to, during, and after the procedures was indescribable. The first time we opted to postpone for several days until such time when our pet can no longer get out of bed to eat and go potty; and Dr. Ramos worked with us through it all. Her compassion shows through her silence, her consoling words are sincere. She’s knowledgeable and worked at our pace, giving us time to say proper goodbyes. We still shed tears as she took our pets away, but had no anxiety whatsoever that we sent them away humanely. I think it helped that it was our pets leaving us from their earthly home rather than us leaving them after they were euthanized at a site that’s strange to them.
Dr Cassandra was amazing. Our beloved family pet had to say her goodbye and I’m thankful to have found her to do at home euthanizing. My family has put down a dog before in the past at the vet which was not a great experience. Bright lights, outdated room, dog visibly uncomfortable. With codapet this was completely opposite.
