Pet euthanasia and cremation pricing in Ann Arbor, MI
Your credit card is required to reserve your appointment. However, no payment is required until the appointment and nothing is due until the appointment is completed
We charge cancellation fee of $100 if an appointment is cancelled less than 4 hours before the start time. If your pet passes away before your appointment you would not be charged a cancellation fee. If the vet you scheduled is able, and you would like their assistance with cremation, then pickup fee would apply instead of euthanasia fee
Other Consideration
If you have a larger pet, your vet may need the help of one friend or family member. Talk to your vet about options and limitations when they reach out to you prior to your appointment, and they will inform you of any extra cost for your situation.
Options for your pets return home and memorabilia depend on your local provider. Your vet coordinate the return of your pet’s ashes and let you know if there are additional fees for urn delivery.
Extra time or medications needed can affect the total price. Other factors can be if it is decided that it’s not time to euthanize your pet after the vet has arrive. In that case, only the travel fee, platform fee, and a quality of life consult would apply.
FAQs
The total cost includes the in-home pet euthanasia service fee, any travel fee (if any apply), and a platform fee. Additionally, depending on your choice, fees may apply for cremation services or keepsakes.
During your appointment, your vet will confirm your aftercare selection with you. If you choose to arrange cremation services, your vet will oversee your pet’s transportation to a local facility for cremation. If your preferred cremation option includes the return of your pet’s ashes to you, your vet will discuss the process to reunite you with your pet's ashes and the anticipated time frame during your appointment
Yes, upon arrival the veterinarian will assess your pet. This can look different than an “nose to tail” examination in a clinic setting and will focus more on the pet’s history and quality of life.
It is not uncommon to have doubts about whether the time is right. If you’ve taken the Quality of Life Questionnaire and are still unsure, we recommend consulting with your family veterinarian before scheduling an appointment.
Rest assured, if you book an appointment, your in-home euthanasia veterinarian will let you know if they do not believe that euthanasia is appropriate at this time.
You can expect your veterinarian to be in your home from 20-60 minutes, depending on how much of that time you need or want throughout the process.

Dr McCasland was very kind and compassionate in helping with my dog who had suffered a long term illness. When I asked she explained the process to me in terms I could understand, which also helped me through the process. I was allowed to be there the whole time and saw she was very respectful and gentle with my dog. The process was peaceful and quiet as we were able to do it at my home. I am very grateful to have such an outstanding vet help me navigate this difficult process.
We recently used in-home pet euthanasia through CodaPet and was very pleased with how Rebecca Houck handled our dog Ozzy. She was so kind and thoughtful in handling Ozzy. It was helpful having him here at home during this time.
Just before New Years, we noticed some changes in our beloved elderly cat, Callie, who unfortunately went downhill quite quickly. We scheduled a vet visit with our local vet clinic for early New Years Eve day suspecting we were nearing the end but hopeful she might pull through. When the time came for the appointment, it became more clear to us Callie was in rough shape and the thought of bringing her to the vet and her last moments alive being of sheer terror didn't feel good for us. We started calling around to several vets who perform home euthanasia, but being New Years Eve and due to our more rural location, we were coming up short. Thankfully one of those companies recommended CodaPet. I was able to make our appointment for that day online and shortly after Dr. Mumm reached out via phone to talk to us about what was going on and what to expect. When Dr. Mumm arrived, she did an exam on our kitty to help us confirm what our gut suspected and helped us to know we were making the right choice for Callie. She was so very kind to us, our kids, and our sweet cat. She was so patient, compassionate, and flexible to our needs in the moment. The whole process was handled just beautifully, in one of the worst moments of our life. We also just received the kindest sympathy card with all the little details, and it meant the world to know she truly listened and cared. We are just so so grateful for CodaPet and Dr. Mumm for being there for us in a time where we really needed it. We will recommend CodaPet to anyone with pets facing a similar choice. Thank you Dr. Mumm and CodaPet!
I can't say enough about the care and true feelings Dr. Jessica had for my cat Sasi and I. She provided us with everything for a gentle and comfortable good bye for my sweet girl. I was able to continue petting her gently the entire time. I highly recommend this service to anyone with a beloved pet.❤️
We have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Chapman and our experience with CodaPet in Austin. We had to make a last minute decision for our dog who was suffering from aggressive cancer and not only was Dr. Chapman available to do this for us, but she was also willing to move up our appointment when we realized we needed it sooner than our original scheduled time. Dr. Chapman's communication was amazing from start to finish, communicating through texts up until she arrived (letting us know when to expect her and the cremation company). When she got to our home, she knocked quietly, which we found respectful. Her manner was calming and throughout the entire painful process, she was thorough, explained the process the entire time, made sure we understood what was going on, gave us time to say our goodbyes, and made everything as peaceful as she could. When everything was finished, she explained the next steps, followed up with texts after she left, and made sure that the cremation company (who I also highly recommend) followed up with instructions of their own. The whole process was seamless and as painless as it could be, considering. I would highly recommend Dr. Chapman and CodaPet if and when you're in need of this service.
Dr. Thompson made a very difficult situation easier than I ever thought possible. She clearly cares about the animal and the human involved :-) So thankful I found her and was able to allow my precious Fischer to pass peacefully in our home.
