Dr. Annie understands how deeply connected you are to your pet—and how important it is to say goodbye in the most peaceful and compassionate way possible. After growing up in rural Pennsylvania, she earned her biology degree from The Ohio State University and her DVM from Iowa State University in 2021. Today, she lives and works in the Ames and Des Moines areas, providing in-home euthanasia services while also working in animal agriculture. You’ll find that Dr. Annie brings both warmth and understanding to every appointment. Her time in emergency and general practice showed her just how powerful the human-animal bond is—especially during end-of-life moments. She’s here to help you create a calm, comfortable space where your pet can be surrounded by love and familiarity during their final moments. Outside of veterinary work, Dr. Annie enjoys exploring local walking trails, kayaking, and working on embroidery projects. At home, she shares her life with Figy, a curious and lovable bloodhound. While Figy's nose tends to lead her on many adventures, her best friend Lydia—a gentle golden retriever—was happy to represent them both in Dr. Annie’s profile photo.

Dr. Amy Monroe
Also serves: Ankeny, Des Moines, +2 more
Dr. Amy Monroe grew up in a small town in central Illinois, where a childhood moment helping the family veterinarian during her husky's annual checkup set her and her twin sister on the same path. Both went on to veterinary school, and in a bit of family trivia, they graduated on the same day just six hours apart. Dr. Monroe completed her undergraduate studies at Eastern Illinois University in 2019 and earned her DVM from Iowa State University in 2024. She now serves families throughout Ames and Central Iowa. Dr. Monroe believes one of the greatest gifts we can give our pets is a peaceful passing when the time comes. She chose to provide in-home euthanasia so pets can remain where they feel safest and most comfortable, surrounded by familiar sights, smells, favorite beds, and the people who love them most. Having experienced these difficult goodbyes both as a veterinarian and as a pet owner, she understands how meaningful these final moments can be, and she considers it an honor to guide families through them with compassion, respect, and peace. Outside of her work, Dr. Monroe enjoys getting lost in a good book, trying new baking recipes, attending live music events, and planning her next travel adventure. Her home is full of personality, including Oakley, her rescue "Golden Pit-hound" soul dog; Radish, a 13-year-old Mini Rex rabbit who treats cilantro as a food group; and Charlie, a foster-fail kitten who has kept her on her toes since the day he arrived. Back home in Illinois, she also has two horses and more goats than she can reasonably count, all of which remind her that animals rarely follow our plans and somehow always become exactly what we needed.
